Where to Play Golf in Marbella? An Area Guide to the Best Courses and the Homes Beside Them
Marbella concentrates one of the largest golf offerings in Europe within a few kilometres, and each area offers a different way of life. Nueva Andalucía (the “Golf Valley”) is the most complete choice for those who want golf, services and an active social scene. East Marbella, towards Cabopino, adds the sea and a relaxed residential feel. Guadalmina stands out for its flat terrain and heritage, and Benahavís for its views and the calm of the mountains. The golf high season begins now, in October, and it is the best time to experience these areas first-hand before buying.
At the time of writing (October 2026), Engel & Völkers Marbella has more than 600 homes for sale across these four areas, more than 360 of them under €3 million. Prices and availability change daily, so ask our team for the current selection.

Why Marbella is a residential golf destination
Marbella and its surroundings have more than twenty courses within half an hour’s drive, between the coast and the hills. That density is unusual: it lets you live in one area and play very different courses without long journeys.
For residents, golf is more than a sport. It shapes the setting, the community and the quality of life: well-kept green spaces, developments with on-site services, and restaurants and social life centred on the clubs. For many buyers, proximity to a course weighs as heavily as distance to the beach.
The golf high season: what to expect from October to May
Although you can play in Marbella practically all year round, the golf high season runs roughly from October to May. Once the intense summer heat has passed, temperatures invite play at any time of day, the courses fill with international golfers and the clubs’ social calendars spring back to life.
What typically changes at this time of year:
- More demand for tee times. At the best-known courses it pays to book ahead, especially for the middle of the day.
- A livelier atmosphere at clubs and in developments. Many international owners return in autumn, and you can feel it in the shops, restaurants and general activity.
- The best moment to view homes with a realistic perspective. Seeing a property in high season lets you judge the atmosphere, traffic, noise and local life as they will be for most of the year.
- Variable rates. Green fees and packages change depending on the course, the day and the season; always check each club’s official website.
Practical tip: if you are considering buying, plan a visit of several days in October or November. Play a couple of courses, explore the areas at different times of day and compare. Our team can arrange a viewing itinerary tailored to the way you play.

Area guide: where to play golf, and where to live beside the course
Nueva Andalucía, the “Golf Valley”
This is the epicentre of golf in Marbella. Within a few square kilometres you will find such well-known courses as Los Naranjos, Real Club de Golf Las Brisas and Aloha, as well as shorter layouts such as Magna Marbella. It is a few minutes from Puerto Banús, with restaurants, shops and services close at hand.
- Real Club de Golf Las Brisas: Founded in 1968 and designed by Robert Trent Jones Sr. (par 72), with plenty of water and mature vegetation. It is a private club that admits a limited number of visitors, so contact the club in advance.
- Los Naranjos Golf Club: Opened in 1977, also a Robert Trent Jones Sr. design (par 72). The front nine is open and rolling, and the back nine runs through the orange groves that give the club its name. Book ahead in high season.
- Aloha Golf Club: A Javier Arana parkland course (par 72), best known for its par-5 10th beside a lake. It is a private club that admits visitors, so check availability with the club. Families can drop the children at Aloha College, in the same community, and still be on the first tee for 18 holes.
- Property profile: developments of apartments, penthouses, townhouses and villas, many with gardens, communal pools and security.
- Prices: around 100 homes for sale from €450,000, 43 of them under €3 million. Median price: around €1.2 million for apartments and €4.9 million for villas.
- Example homes: W-0487SA, W-02XNDG, W-02U31F
- Ideal for: those who want golf, social life and services within a few minutes, whether as a main residence or a second home.
- Worth bearing in mind: as this is a highly sought-after area, it pays to compare developments, orientations and real distances to the course carefully.

Marbella East and Cabopino: golf with a coastal feel
East of the town centre, golf blends with the sea. Here you will find Santa Clara Golf, Marbella Golf & Country Club, Santa María Golf & Country Club, Río Real and, at the far end of our area, Cabopino Golf Marbella, an 18-hole par-71 course overlooking Cabopino marina. Elviria, Artola and Cabopino combine beaches, pine woods and a relaxed residential atmosphere.
- Río Real Golf: A Javier Arana design from 1965 (par 72). It is mostly flat, shaded by mature trees, crossed by the river that gives it its name, and runs down to the beach.
- Santa Clara Golf Marbella: A par 71 by Enrique Canales Busquets (2001), next to the Costa del Sol Hospital. Its best-known stretch is the “Santa Clara Corner” (holes 12 to 14).
- Cabopino Golf Marbella: Facing Cabopino marina, short (about 5,170 m) but undulating, with sea views through the pines. The 3rd hole has a tee roughly 80 metres above the fairway.
- Property profile: villas, townhouses and apartments in well-established developments, often with mature landscaping and close to the beach.
- Prices: around 200 homes for sale from €278,000, about 140 of them under €3 million. Median price: around €1 million for apartments and €3.5 million for villas.
- Example homes: W-02XPV0, W-04BWIA
- Ideal for: those who want to combine golf with the beach, a calmer pace and good connections via the A-7.
- Worth bearing in mind: the terrain at some courses is more undulating, which is worth considering if you plan to play regularly on foot.
San Pedro de Alcántara and Guadalmina: heritage and flat terrain
Guadalmina Golf Club is one of the area’s clubs with the most history (its South course dates from 1959). It lies between the beach and San Pedro, on flatter terrain than many of the courses in the hills.
- Guadalmina South: Designed by Javier Arana and opened in 1959, with wide fairways between mature pines. The 10th and 11th holes run alongside the sea, with the beach in view.
- Guadalmina North: Shorter, more undulating and more wooded than the South course (par 72). The club also has a nine-hole short course.
- Property profile: villas and apartments in established developments, many close to the beach.
- Prices: around 85 homes for sale in San Pedro and Guadalmina from €351,500, about 57 of them under €3 million. Median price: around €800,000 for apartments and €3.9 million for villas.
- Example homes: W-02UJS7, W-048ZGI
- Ideal for: those who want golf without steep gradients, proximity to the sea and village life in San Pedro.
- Worth bearing in mind: the choice of frontline properties is more limited, so the best options tend to go quickly.
Benahavís: golf, mountains and tranquillity
North-west of Marbella, the road climbs to Benahavís, a mountain village known for its restaurants and for developments with far-reaching views. Here you will find courses such as Marbella Club Golf Resort, La Quinta Golf, Los Arqueros, Flamingos Golf (Villa Padierna) and El Higueral, as well as private communities such as La Zagaleta.
- Los Arqueros Golf & Country Club: A par 71 designed by Seve Ballesteros (1991) that winds through two valleys, with views down to the coast.
- La Quinta Golf & Country Club: On the eastern edge of Benahavís, one of the most scenic courses in the area and suitable for all levels.
- Flamingos Golf (Villa Padierna): A par 71 at the exclusive end of the price range.
- Private access: Marbella Club Golf Resort is mainly for guests of the Marbella Club and Puente Romano hotels, and La Zagaleta is strictly private, so access is by resort stay, membership or invitation.
- Property profile: large-plot villas, homes with panoramic views of the sea and the mountains, and gated communities.
- Prices: around 235 homes for sale from €330,000, about 118 of them under €3 million. Median price: around €1.25 million for apartments and €5.9 million for villas. Villas in La Zagaleta start at around €5.3 million.
- Example homes: W-02YBDV, W-02XI3M
- Ideal for: those who prioritise privacy, space, nature and views.
- Worth bearing in mind: you will need a car for almost everything and the terrain is hillier; it is worth visiting at different times of day.

Frontline, golf views or nearby: the differences that matter
Not all “golf properties” are the same. Be clear about what each term means for the property you are viewing:
- Frontline golf: the plot or development borders the course directly. It usually offers more views and a sense of space, and often a higher price.
- Golf views: you can see the course, but the property does not necessarily border it. A common middle option.
- Close to the course: a few minutes away by car or on foot, without views. Usually the most accessible option.
Details worth checking during a viewing: orientation (sun and views), the real distance to the tee or clubhouse, noise from course maintenance early in the morning, and whether any holes run close enough to cause a nuisance.
If you are interested in a golf property here are the details worth checking
- Club access. Find out whether the course is open to the public, private or by invitation only, and whether the property includes any playing rights or membership terms.
- Community charges. Many golf properties are part of communities with shared services (security, pools, gardens) that charge a community fee; always ask for the exact amount and what it covers.
- Intended use. A main residence, a second home and a holiday rental each carry different requirements. If you plan to let, check the current regional regulations and the community’s statutes.
- Condition and orientation. A great location does not make up for a property that needs major renovation without a prior budget.
- Local advice. An adviser with experience of the area will help you compare properties and anticipate costs and timescales.
